Description
The Beach by Alex Garland stirs primitive desires to live freely and off-the-land with minimal distractions from the outside world. What starts as an ideal community of like minded people on a hidden island beach in Thailand quickly descends into chaos. This book is dark, and I loved it for that! I loved how the book created this amazing utopia which started to unravel without being too obvious, and then just keep slipping away. I was really glad that the movie didn’t follow the book exactly – so even if you have seen the movie, read the book too!
